More Cat Tails

"God how you've grown!" I keep saying to Mousel every time she stalks past me, she just gives me a look.

At 5 months, we thought we should give Mousel a playmate, we should have course, at the time, just stolen another kitten from the same litter, but we didn't think about it. It was daunting enough bringing one live animal home and being in charge of it. So after a bit of googling, I found Celia Hammond's website -an ex model, animal lover who rescues strays. After having our flat examined by one of their team, we went to pick up Gertie, with slight trepidation..what if she's horrible, or smells, or doesn't like us etc etc. Would it look bad to change our mind?? We needn't have worried. At the center, the little fluff ball was hanging out with the dog in the basket, cool as a cucumber (or so she looked), whilst the other cats mewed and miaowed in their cages. We took to her immediately.

Mousel is not happy! 

She doesn't care about pink noses and toeses. She's royally miffed about some raggamuffin stray coming in from the streets to share her home, and owner. How dare I!!

And she wasn't happy for about 2 weeks, so there was a lot of biting and chasing and bullying and pounding and jumping from great heights when least expected to squish the invader. There was also a lot of upsetting squealing from Gertie, who really tried to get along with her new pal - she was submissive and patient... Gertie by the way is not as cool as cucumber. She's a real scaredy cat, the scarediest cat I know. Even when she's been on my lap for hours, she'll jump a mile when I walk towards her ten minutes later. Stitch barely reaches out to touch her and she pings into the air and makes a dash for it. I think it's a trust thing - she's had a hard life, all 4 months of it!

Poor Gertie knows that lick will turn into a bite

But things are improving, and there's a lot more relaxing going on.....

 And enemies have become friends

Although this has helped a few arguments lately

Oh, and just so you know, Mousel is still the top dog
